So the last post was end of May and here we are the day after the day of the devil and while we have not seen the rapture alot has happened.
Most notably we have lost a fine fellow
Billy Preston aka "the Black Beatle" whom QD discovered when she was into her vinyl collection. What would you be if you could be whatever you wanted?" - indeed! What a great man ... what a loss...
Next: Our dearest best beloved frienD has started upon his Middle Passage and so we sent some flowers to him and his lover ... a better bunch a fellows I have yet to meet. Congrats!!!!
In the news: well you read the news and while usually we are happy to break it down for you - the news has been fluffly bleak.
Katherine Harris is about to implode and that is of course fun to watch.
Not so fun to watch is
Ann Coulter spew her hate all over the widows and families of people who were killed in 9/11. The response from those strong women is dignified and relevant as opposed to the golden haired fish wife of the right.
No more news on Rove and now we're sort of concerned about truthout.org. Not that it is keeping us up at night ... but at what point do you admit your error and move on (after, hopefully ... firing your writer). The scary thing about the story was the fact that Jason Leopold was plugging his book so it seems like a really bad bad bad publicity stunt ... for that ... and not the error ... we belive he should be relived of his duties.
Did you know that Harvard University has a 25 BILLION dollar capital fund? Makes it seem more like a business than an institution of higher learning if you ask us ... what a travesty when we collectively give one school that much (money) power.
We read
Jamaica Kincaid's "Talk Stories" and a) we liked them muchly b) recommend against reading all in one sitting and c) miss the magazine that was once the New Yorker.
Finally: we are currently researching the history of Harlem NY, Francis Marion (the swamp fox), Joe McCarthy (the buckaneer bastard) and Thomas Stevens (who rode his bike around the world in the 1800's).
So that is the past week in review...we have been in the country without an internet connection (unbelievebale as it seems!) but we are back ...
Peace Out
